Good morning, Hudson. It is National Fire Pup Day, which is as good a cue as any to mention that Pasco County Fire Rescue is opening up Station 19 for Fire Prevention Week. Today looks like 89 and scattered storms, and the upper 80s with a storm chance hold right through the weekend. Friday carries the highest rain chance of the five days.

Residential tire disposal fees are waived from today while the county keeps pushing back on dengue, and the Water Management District plans to burn 186 acres at Starkey Wilderness Preserve, conditions permitting, so parts of the county may see or smell smoke. Over at the schools, Fivay is running Homecoming Spirit Week and Hudson High's Junior AVID class spent a day on service projects.

The Hudson Business Exchange runs at lunchtime today, and the weekend fills up quickly after that: Jeep & Truck Night at Circle S on Friday, a luau dinner at Lakewood Family Church the same evening, and dozens of artists along the water at Hernando Beach on Saturday. Spot you later.

Residential tire disposal fees are waived from today
Pasco County Government (FB Page)
Pasco County is waiving residential tire disposal fees from today as part of its push against dengue fever. Old tires collect standing water, which is where the mosquitoes that spread the virus breed. The county's post does not say when the waiver ends. Commissioners declared a local state of emergency over dengue on September 23, and Mosquito Control takes questions on 727-376-4568.
